The IELTS reading test involves answering about 40 questions based on three articles. Each article is about 800 words long. The candidate has one hour to complete this test. Antipodean's reading programme:
- Teaches optimal time management
- Trains the candidate in techniques for improving global understanding of articles
- Demonstrates and practises techniques for categorising and finding information quickly and accurately
- Shows the student how to handle each of the different kinds of questions encountered in the IELTS reading test
Class Work
Our class work programme progresses in easy stages. As time goes by, more and more skills and techniques are learned until the student has complete mastery of the subject.
In class, the teacher guides the student through drills designed to teach core skills - global awareness of the article, time management, and locating information. Different types of questions are analysed and explained, and techniques for handling them practised.
Homework
The majority of the actual 'work' is handled as homework. Our in house designed homework activities consolidate skills covered in class. Homework assignments typically take about 20 minutes to complete. |
